Personal Worldbuilding

A collection of personal works I've made in the past
Whether they be art, information, or writing, they all serve to develop an inter-connected world.

Starfall is a story inspired by whalefalls and the concept of 'the sky being a sea of stars'.

It was intended to be post-apocalyptic with themes of cosmic horror, where the wastelands are seen as the norm and characters have long since adapted to the new state of their world.

The main story is focused on the discovery aspect; the reader is meant to experience the world through the characters' eyes, as the story is really about the world itself and not the people within it. The finalĀ fates of these characters in turn are meant to feel open-ended, to allow freedom in imagining what they would do next.

The Solinatus are a species of trees that mimic terrestrial life. They serve as the land that life can grow upon, and act as a basis to how 'new lands' can still be discovered in the world they're from.

These creatures were my first attempt at worldbuilding as, to me, forming a solid base for theĀ natural ecosystem of a world will later help ensure story elements like characters and events can realistically interact with their surroundings.

This personal lesson is what I later use when developing other stories in the future.
